The uplifting theme of 2007

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

Written by Michael Vass

I wanted to try and find something that could sum up 2007 in a visual and vocal manner. Something that could express the world and its current status. So YouTube was one of my eventual stops. And there were many choices.

I threw out all the fights and stupid human tricks. Out went anything that had to do with Britney Spears, Lindsey Lohan, Paris Hilton, and the other dregs of humanity. Out went the political gaffes and posturing.

In the end I found a simple man, who works like everyone else, with ordinary looks. A guy that you wouldn’t notice on the street, and a manner that is best described as shy. He, Paul Potts, is my reminder that with all the turmoil and strife and idiocy in the world the human spirit can attain far more than what we see on the major news media everyday.

I share this with you and wish you a happy holiday.

Was Columbia right?

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

Written by Michael Vass

The President of Iran was allowed to speak at Columbia College yesterday. There were protests, and he was asked tough questions. He ignored the protest, and avoided answers to the questions.

So what was the net effect? Soundbites on an international level, edited by those not favorable to the United States, can show how America bends to minor countries like Iran.

It wasn’t worth it. At least he didn’t get to place a wreath for the terrorists that died at the Towers.

How Did You Get So Dumb?

Friday, September 21st, 2007

After seeing the news about the MIT student that was arrested for the fake bomb at Logan International Airport, I decided to make her the leading candidate for “Dummy of the Year Award.”

State Police Maj. Scott Pare, the commanding officer at the airport told the Associated Press, “”She’s extremely lucky she followed the instructions or deadly force would have been used and she’s lucky to be in a cell as opposed to the morgue.”

I’m No Racist But ….

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

Sorry, I’m no racist but why does it seem that people like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson show up everywhere where there is a current event of racial tension?

I’m no racist but I’ve never heard of the Reverends showing up at the casket of black military personnel coming back from Iraq in a coffin.

I’ve never heard of the Reverends showing up when a young black man gets shot by drug dealers in Chicago. But, get shot by a cop or get jailed in Lousiana with racial tensions flying and you’re sure to see the Reverends.

One of my associates said to me that’s because they want press on these types of issues but they do show up to others. If that’s the case, that’s sad. Why is a cop shooting so much more important than getting shot by a drug dealer?

Can anyone answer?

Bush’s Fall Guy - Blackwater USA

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

For the entire term of the Bush Administration, President Bush has received horrendous advice from the people around him.

If he was smart, he’d now assume the position of finding a fall guy. That fall guy is Blackwater USA. There is a real possibility that the Blackwater USA contractors, the same group that has been contracted to protect diplomats such as Ambassador Crocker, will be ordered out of Iraq.

The administration’s best chance to move out of Iraq is to assume an opposing position to the Iraqi Government. Here’s their chance.

For All My Married Male Friends

Friday, August 24th, 2007

I love my wife dearly but I’m convinced that all women at one time or another have attended Yeah But University. I call it the “Yeah But Apology” Of Course, I say this with tongue in cheek but tell me if this sounds familiar.

” I’ll forgive you if you say you’re sorry.”

” I’m sorry but you just weren’t listening to me.”

” I’m sorry but you didn’t hear me but it’s over.”

” I’m sorry but you just need to listen to me.”

“I’m sorry but you’ve been working to hard.”

“I’m sorry but just listen to me”

And the number one answer is

“I’m sorry but you were being a jerk.”

And to my wife

” Love you unconditionally”

Obama to Change U.S. Cuban Policy

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

Obama wants to change U.S. policy in regards to Cubans living in the United States and from the look of the suggested changes, we agree.

In fact, it is time once and for all to change the U.S. policy toward Cuba. For 45 years, the U.S. embargo has only oppressed the Cuban people and has really strengthened the Castro regime. Restricting Cubans that want to send money home makes no sense. It’s real simple.
